The band with the tightest mix of power, melody and sometimes even
reggae is definitely NYC's UNDERDOG. With the two key-constant
elements during it's four year long lifespan(1985-1989); Richie
Birkenhead (vocals) and Russ Wheeler(bass), UNDERDOG put out some of
the best hardcore records ever to come out of New York. Listen to
their first 7" ep and to their "the vanishing point" Lp and you will
hear to masterpieces that became instant hardcore classics. After a
long break that was originally meant to be just a short one they are
back to tour Europe. Mark the year 2006 as UNDERDOGS', cause after
seeing them live myself I can only conclude that this band is
unequalled and more eager than ever.
