twelve years ago. How's the line-up like these days ? Are there more members ?

Czral: We have obviously a live line-up, three other guys. Our bass player isn't in the live line-up. He doesn't want to play live so we just work in the studio with him.

You played your first gig last year and a few other ones since then. How was this decision made ?

Czral: Our friends from Ulver

wanted us to come along and play a show with them in London. It was a proposition from them. We felt we couldn't say no. At one point you have to decide whether you're gonna be a proper band or not and I think proper bands play live. It was a very good thing for us because we just got over that steep hill of performing live. It was very scary but once we did it, it was a very good thing.

Do you plan on playing more shows in the future, maybe a tour ? Or still one-off gigs now and then ?

Czral: I think we've done six or seven shows since our first gig in March last year. At the beginning, we were thinking to do only one-off shows, but now we're looking at maybe some touring in December. It would be a small European tour. Of course we're gonna do a new album soon. We need to get a more dynamic setlist for the lives. We need one more album to get the perfect live set.

Can you tell me more about that future album ?

Czral: No, not much really. We're very slow at working with Virus

. We have to feel like working. It's not something we can force ourselves to work with. I have another band as well, Aura Noir

, we play live as well. There's a lot of gigs and touring with them. So we haven't had much time to focus on new material. We have almost one song for the new album.

How do you pick the events you're playing at ? I mean it's quite surprising to see you play at Brutal Assault, which is a more extreme festival...

Czral: A lot of fans of more traditional or extreme metal seem to like Virus

. I guess in the core of the music there's something dark that people who are into extreme metal can relate to. I think that's the thing with Virus

. It can appeal to both metal people and people who are into alternative rock stuff as well.

So the future plans are composing the new album and touring ?

Czral: Yes, basically. We need a wider selection of songs to be able to do a headlining tour because as of now, I think the longest we can play without people starting to get bored is like fifty minutes. So if we're gonna play over an hour, we need another album.
